Bagan

You can behold countless rows of pagodas and temples in this sacred land of Bagan. If you cast your gaze into the distance, you will discern the temple shapes emerging through the misty landscape. Although the city of Bagan is characterized by its arid and scorching climate, this enchanting ancient archaeological site, replete with temples and pagodas, is well worth a visit. These temples, constructed by various kings of yore, offer a remarkable insight into the engineering prowess of ancient civilizations and their ability to withstand the tests of time. Needless to mention, the sun rising and setting behind these endless rows of temples is a sight that never ceases to enchant..

I cannot resist the urge to take a photo of this beautiful boulevard of acacias. Acacia is a well-known tree species in the arid regions of Burma, symbolizing strength and resilience. Daydreaming as I wander along the boulevard and immersing myself in the rows of trees on both sides always soothes my mind.

Bagan is not only a city of ancient temples but also a repository of the rich culture of ancient Burmese civilization. And marionettes known as “Yoke The” play a crucial role in showcasing the opulence of culture in those eras. Holding an alchemist marionette with a hand adorned with a traditional tattoo pattern is a mesmerizing sight.

Take a look at the structure of one of the temples in Bagan. Despite the temple’s massive size, the engineering ingenuity of bygone times, coupled with skillful placement of small apertures, allows ample light and ventilation to reach the interior of the temple.
