Chinland

Freezing but Fresh

This photo was taken by a friend of mine, while we were lumbering our way to the top of the highest mountain in Chin named “Wedo Riya”. The weather there was freezing and windy but fresh, the sceneries around were breath-taking, I saw a beautiful ocean of clouds and felt the quick rushing of clouds through me. we almost lost our way to the summit but fortunately, we found a small path that led to a main tract. The highest mountain I have ever step foot on.

We did it…

It was the highest point of that mountain, the wind was so strong that I barely managed to stand up and keep my balance. The wind could easily knock down a kid. The sign I was pointing in the picture says that it was ten thousands and two hundreds feet above the sea level. The one below says not to pick up the flowers along the way, the one below says not to burn the forest. It was breathless literally, both from the exhaustion and from the high attitude. But worth all the effort.

Trying out the local attire (Author note – I was not wearing in the correct style and costume)

It took us quite some time to reach that shop, there were various kinds of local attires, animal skulls and single-round rifles. The rifle I was leaning on was huge and heavy, they said that they use those weapons to hunt the wild animals. Their practice came in handy in 2021 Spring Revolution, as Mindat, a famous town in Chin, successfully repelled the junta forces and burned three of their trucks. I salute their bravery.

Traveler

The roads were built around the mountains, so there were many wonderful views along the way. I enjoyed the drive so much, we listened to country songs like “Take it easy” by Eagles. The driver is hospitable and quite skillful. I talked to him and listened to his life stories and experiences. A trip to Chinland was a sight for my sore eyes.
