Karenni

The name of this beautiful mountain is the “Taung Kwe” Pagoda, also known as the Split Mountain Pagoda. It is a short yet steep hike to the summit, but the breathtaking scenery overlooking the small city of Loikaw is worth every step. When I visited there, they were still renovating and offering some gold leaves, so you could see traditional scaffolds around some of the pagodas.

Karenni is well-known for the colorful looms and the clothing. As I entered the small local factory, I can hear the strong breathing of such colorful looms.

Mountains are remarkable landmarks for me. I enjoyed watching rows upon rows of mountain ranges, feeling the touch of a powerful gust. We had to get up early to enjoy the beautiful sunrise behind those mountain ranges. Since we are all late risers, getting up early and hiking a steep climb was not an easy task. However, the lush scenery and the smell of the strong gust were worth our struggle.

I am not sure if the wooden frame can be an effective barrier between us, who are eager to be in any body of water, and the powerful waterfall. However, we did not swim in this waterfall because the water was so strong, and the weather was freezing.

I have always had a keen interest in visiting religious monuments, such as the graceful cathedral. It is said that this church is one of the largest in the Karenni region. The interior, as well as the exterior of this church, is pleasing to my eyes, and I experience peace and tranquility when I sit alone in this holy place in Karenni.
